A male minor was arrested Thursday afternoon in Frederiksted after police found him in possession of a stolen rifle, the V.I. Police Department reported.
At 2:17 p.m. Thursday, the 911 emergency call center received a notification of gunfire discharged near Spratt Hall.
Responding officers saw and stopped a young man riding a bicycle and saw the magazine for a .22 caliber rifle in his possession. A K-9 unit was summoned to the scene and was successful in locating a .22 caliber rifle.
According to police, the 17-year-old suspect, whose name was not released by police because of his age, admitted to having shot at the home and car of an individual he claimed owed him money.
It was later discovered that the rifle had been stolen.
The minor was arrested and charged with grand larceny, possession of an unlicensed firearm and the discharging of gunfire.
