A man driving a moped Wednesday afternoon on the East End Road near Ms. Bea Road was killed in a collision with a vehicle, the V.I. Police Department reported.
The victim was later identified as James Jenk, 65, of Alabama.
At 3:13 p.m. Wednesday, the 911 emergency call center received a report of a vehicular accident. According to the VIPD, a man operating a moped was traveling east on East End Road and lost control. It ran head on into a westbound vehicle.
Two of the car’s passengers were taken to the Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital by ambulance for treatment and observation along with the operator of the moped.
The condition of the vehicle’s two passengers is unknown at this time; however, Jenk succumbed to his injuries sometime after 11 p.m. Thursday.
The matter is under investigation by the VIPD’s Traffic Division
