Veterans and community members will march in Veterans Day parades on St. Thomas and St. Croix on Wednesday, and the American Legion will be marching on St. John, while veterans already marched for a pre-Veterans Day parade on Sunday.
The St. Croix parade is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Frederiksted Post Office and run through town to Buddhoe Park.
Parking is prohibited along the entire parade route including the staging area at the Post Office located on Fisher Street. Parking is prohibited on Fisher Street to King Street and from King Street to Buddhoe Park. Vehicles parked along the parade route will be cited and towed at the owner’s expense. Drivers are urged to use alternate routes as possible and as directed by V.I. police officers during the event.
Also Wednesday at 9 a.m., the American Legion will march in Coral Bay, St. John.
All St. Thomas Veteran’s Day parade participants will assemble at the Addelita Cancryn School Bridge at 2 p.m. They will be ready to start marching promptly at 3 p.m. and will be taking the following route.
Marchers will proceed from the Cancryn Bridge then turn on to Harwood Highway headed east via Main Street. They will proceed down Main Street to Franklin D. Roosevelt Veterans Park.
The following parking restrictions shall be enforced between the hours of 3-6 p.m. No vehicles shall be parked on Main Street. All violators will be towed at the owner’s expense.
Also Wednesday, the V.I. National Guard is having a Family Readiness Group Veterans Day Food Sale at the Fort Christian Parking Lot.
The FRG is also hosting a movie night Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. at Market Square East Theater. It hosts the St. Thomas Fall Festival Nov. 28 at noon at the Sergeant First Class Leonard B. Francis Readiness Center Drill Hall.
