Police Investigate Burglary at JFK Housing

Officers of the V.I. Police Department on Sunday investigated a report that a man had broken into his girlfriend’s apartment and, after an altercation, walked out with her cell phone.

Police said officers on regular patrol were notified by dispatchers of a burglary in progress at the John F. Kennedy housing community. Arriving at the scene, officers met with the victim who related the following information:

At roughly 10 p.m. Saturday she and her boyfriend, whose name was not released by police, got into a verbal disagreement. She said she asked him to leave the apartment in order to avoid an altercation.

She said that at 12:55 a.m. Sunday, she and two men were in her apartment when her boyfriend broke the rear balcony door, entered the apartment and began to accuse her of cheating on him.

The boyfriend then lunged at her, she told officers, grabbed her mobile phone from her hand and hit her face while doing so, then left the apartment with the mobile phone.
The incident is under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
