Four women were victims of a robbery and carjacking early Sunday morning near the John F. Kennedy Housing Community, the V.I. Police Department reported.
According to the police, 911 operators dispatched officers to the housing community to investigate the report of a carjacking. Responding officers met with four women who had been victims of a robbery and carjacking, one of which had been struck in the head with a gun butt and declined medical attention.
According to the women, the four friends had been sitting together outside on a sidewalk within the housing community at roughly 4:10 a.m. after having attended a function at a local club. The women said they were approached from behind by two masked men with guns, who ordered them to the ground. The men then searched the women, taking their gold chains, mobile phones, cash and the car key of one of the women. The assailants then drove off in the vehicle, a grey colored 2014 Toyota Corolla bearing dealer plates.
The women were unable to provide a description of the suspects. Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Bureau are investigating the incident.
