Bennet Augustin, a 29-year-old resident of Estate Upper Love, died Sunday morning in a one-car traffic accident on Queen Mary Highway in Estate Williams Delight.
The 911 center received a call at 6:24 a.m. Sunday reporting a major auto accident in the vicinity of the Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority.
According to the V.I. Police Department preliminary report, Augustin apparently lost control of the black pickup truck he was operating and struck a tree. The vehicle broke apart upon impact, according to police.
Emergency Medical Technicians examined Augustin and found no signs of life were found.
Investigators with the Traffic Investigation Bureau are continuing their investigation into the matter.
