A resident of Estate Grove Place filed a report with police at about 3:50 p.m. Friday, saying he had been robbed Thursday in his residence by a group of a dozen men, at least two of them armed.
According to the V.I. Police Department, the man told officers he entered his Estate Grove Place residence at 3 p.m. Thursday and was approached by several men unknown to him. The men struck him in the head with the butt of a gun and ordered him into the house. As he complied with the men and entered the home, he discovered that there were seven men already inside of the home, while five others stayed outside.
The man said two of the assailants, armed with guns, sat him in a chair and stood on either side of him as they demanded money from him, threatened to shoot him and ransacked the home. Not finding any money in the home or on his person, the men took his mobile phone and before leaving, they gun butted and punched him repeatedly about his body, he said.
The man was unable to describe his assailants, and said he didn’t immediately file a report with the police or seek medical attention due to being in severe pain after his ordeal.
The incident is under investigation by detectives with the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
