Five people have been arrested on weapons charges, the V.I. Police Department reported, and firearms have been seized – including a machine gun and a Glock handgun believed to have been stolen from a police officer’s home.
According to the police, the following arrests for unauthorized possession of firearms took place Sunday and Monday.
The recovery of the weapons is attributed to a Directed Patrol Initiative through the Criminal Investigation Bureau, which includes members of the Wilbur Francis Command, Ancilmo Marshall Command, Traffic Investigation Bureau and the ATF Task Force.
– Sunday: Winston C. Venner, 27, of Strawberry Ridge was arrested and charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm at 3:50 a.m. in the area of Estate Bellevue. Bail for Venner was set at $25,000 and he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise of rights hearing.
– Monday: Jahkeem Garray, 19, of William’s Delight was arrested and charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm at 1:20 a.m. in the vicinity of Estate La Reine. Bail for Garray was set at $25,000 and he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his Advise of Rights hearing.
– Monday: Omari K. Gordon, 31, of La Grande Princesse was arrested and charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm at 8:40 p.m. in the vicinity of Harbor View. Bail for Gordon was set at $25,000 and he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise of rights hearing.
– Monday: Fade Asad, 22, of Barren Spot was arrested and charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm at 9:30 p.m. in the area of the D. Hamilton Jackson Terrace. Bail for Asad was set at $25,000 and he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise of rights hearing.
– Monday: Nakosi Prentice, 18, of William’s Delight was arrested and charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm at 11:55 p.m. in the area of Estate Concordia. Bail for Prentice was set at $25,000 he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advise of rights hearing.
