Police on St. Croix are investigating two shootings that took place in separate incidents Saturday, the V.I. Police Department announced.
The first shooting was reported at roughly 3:53 a.m., when the 911 emergency call center received a report from the Juan F. Luis Memorial Hospital’s emergency room that a woman had walked in for treatment of a gunshot wound.
Officers met with the 29-year-old victim, who said that she had been in the Richmond area, standing outside a private residence where there was a house party. The victim said four men approached her with guns and told her not to move.
She said one of the individuals then fired shots at her and she was struck in her left shoulder and received a graze to her neck area, and that she then travelled to the hospital for treatment.
The second incident was reported at 8:15 a.m., when 911 received a report from the hospital that a man was in the emergency room being treated for a gunshot wound.
The 18-year-old victim told the officers he had sitting on his porch in Estate Glynn sometime after 3 a.m., talking on his phone, when a vehicle drove by his residence and stopped. The operator of the vehicle then asked him if he was from "east or west," pointed a gun at him, fired a shot and drove off.
The victim said he felt he had been struck and waited for a ride to take him to the hospital. He sustained a gunshot wound to his right forearm.
Detectives are investigating both incidents.
Be aware, however, that these numbers are on the decline as state solar capacity
goals are met.
