A man walking in Estate Williams Delight on Saturday morning was robbed by a group of men, at least one of whom was armed, the V.I. Police Department.

At about 11:40 a.m. Saturday a caller reported to the 911 emergency call center a robbery taking place in the William’s Delight Housing Community.

Officers and detectives responded to the area and met with the victim, whose name was not released by police. The man told officers he was walking in the Williams Delight area when he was approached by five men in a vehicle. The man did not know the make or model of the vehicle, but said it was gold colored.

According to the victim, the suspects got out of the vehicle, and one of the men brandished a firearm and demanded money from the victim.

The victim said he told the suspects he didn’t have any money and the men tried to force the victim into the vehicle, but were unsuccessful in their attempts. The suspects then took a bag, which the victim was carrying with his personal items, and fled the area in the vehicle.

Detectives are continuing their investigation into the matter.
