Betty Galloway Dies in Texas

It is with profound sadness that her family announces the passing of Betty Jean Gussman Galloway on Thursday, April 2, at the age of 89 in San Antonio, Texas.
Aunt Betty, who was born on St. Croix, was the granddaughter of Algeron Ogaard and Amy Markoe Ogaard, and daughter of Reynaldo Gussman and Gladys Ogaard Gussman. She moved to New York at a young age where she lived with her parents until her return years later with her mother to St. Croix. Soon after Betty arrived in St. Croix, she met and was married to John “Jay” Galloway.
While on St. Croix, Betty worked and retired after approximately 25 years of employment with Pan American Airlines. She then continued to live on the island she loved until 2012. With no relatives left on St. Croix and with failing health, Betty decided to move to San Antonio to join the rest of her family.
Betty’s parents; her brother, Norman Gussman; and sister, Ruth Roads precede her in death.
She is survived by her nieces: Loreen Busch, Jeannette Magnuson, Norma Dubon and Ninon Carr; great nieces: Carmen Gussman and Pamela Gussman; nephews: Norman R. Gussman, Ted Roads, Alexander Gussman, Edward Gussman and Daniel Gussman; great nephews: Norman R. Gussman Jr., Mike Busch, Christopher Busch, Phillip Busch, Elden Magnuson, Jose Dubon, Christian Dubon, Bryan Webster, Brandon Webster and other great nephews too numerous to mention.
Betty blessed our lives with her knowledge, wit, humor and love. She will be remembered and live forever in our hearts. She will be laid to rest on April 7 at the Resurrection Cemetery at Cordi-Marian in San Antonio, Texas.
