19-Year-Old Shot in William’s Delight

A 19-year-old male who lives in Estate Williams Delight was shot Thursday night, receiving a nonthreatening injury, according to the V.I. Police Department.

At about 9:40 p.m., the 911 emergency call center received a call of a gunshot victim at the Juan F. Luis Memorial Hospital’s emergency room. Officers arrived to the ER and were able to interview the victim.

The victim, whose name was not released by police, told officers he’d just dropped off a friend in the area of William’s Delight when an unknown individual wearing a ski mask tried to stop his vehicle. When the victim refused to stop, the unknown assailant began to shoot at the vehicle as he drove away.

The victim said that he drove to his residence, realized that he was shot, and had his sibling transport him to the emergency room.

The young man sustained gunshot wounds to his right arm and was unable to give any further description of the suspect.

The shooting incident is being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Bureau. Anyone with information on the incident can phone the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 1-340-712-6042, the 911 emergency call center, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
