Samuel Alphonse Arrendell Dies

Samuel Alphonse Arrendell was born on March 11, 1931, to the late Victor Emmanuel Arrendell and Devers Theodose Veronique. He was born on St. Maarten in the West Indies, the eldest of five children. Arrendell went on to glory on March 4 in the company of his family at Coastal Manor Nursing Home in Ludowici, Ga.
He leaves behind his devoted and faithful wife of 60 years, Alma Arrendell; daughters: Joyce Arrendell and Yvonne Lang; sons: Vincent Arrendell and Alberto Van Gurp of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands; sister, Cecilia Cox of St. Maarten; and grandchildren: Vanessa and Matthew Harris, Lluvia and Alma Arrendell, Ali, Delicia and Carlos Van Gurp; nephew, George Cox; nieces: Veronica and Nelva; a supportive daughter-in-law, Arelis Arrendell and son-in-law Ernest W. Lang; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
His wake will be held from 6-7 p.m. on Friday, March 13, at the Dorchester Funeral Home. The funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, in the Mt. Zion MBC, 1370 Shaw Road, Hinesville, Ga. He will rest at the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of service. Interment will be at Oglethorpe Memorial Park in Hinesville.
