A 37-year-old man was shot and killed Monday morning in the Estate Grove Place area in the vicinity of Eulalie Rivera Elementary School, according to the V.I. Police Department.
Police identified the victim as Mustafa Williams. It was the second homicide on St. Croix since the beginning of the year, the seventh in the territory.
The 911 emergency call center received a report of shots fired at about 11:46 a.m. in Estate Grove Place. Officers were dispatched to the area and discovered a black man lying unresponsive.
Emergency medical technicians were called to the scene, checked the victim for signs on life and found there were none, police said. The victim appeared to have been shot multiple times, according to the preliminary report.
There are no suspects at the time of the report, police said, but detectives with the Major Crimes Division continue their investigation.
