Man Found Dead at Sapphire Village

Detectives are investigating the death of a 60-year-old man whose body was found Tuesday as a homicide, the V.I. Police Department reported.

Police are investigating the death as a homicide. It is the 18th homicide on St. Thomas since the beginning of the year, the 38th in the territory.

Police withheld the name of the victim pending the notification of next of kin. The victim’s body was found shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday in his home at the Sapphire Village Apartments.

Police said several of his acquaintances said they had not seen him for several days and went to his apartment, where they found the body.

Detectives said an autopsy has been scheduled which they hope would identify the cause of death.
