We From Upstreet Celebrates Christmas With Lighting of the Trees and Music

We From Upstreet Inc. (WEFUS) will be celebrating its 19th annual Christmas Lighting of the Trees at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Virgin Islands Veterans Memorial Park (Roosevelt Park). This year, the theme, “Making Spirits Bright with the Joy of Christmas Lights,” speaks of the love and happiness shared each year with children, family and friends in a traditional Christmas fashion. The organization has selected WTJX Channel 12 as this year’s honoree in recognition for its years of providing outstanding education, cultural and community activity programs to the Virgin Islands.
Plans are underway for three evenings of fun-filled activities as follows:
Sunday, Dec. 7 from 3-7:30 p.m.
“Youth day and Official Lighting”: We have invited several public, private and parochial school bands, choirs, dancers and steel orchestras.
Monday, Dec. 8 from 6-9 p.m.
“Cultural Night” — BCB Flambo Combo Cultural Band, Milo’s Kings, Community Choirs and Quadrille Dancers. This year’s honoree is WTJX Channel 12
Tuesday, Dec. 9 from 6-9 p.m.
“A Nostalgic Christmas”: Local artists, headed up by Louis Taylor and Friends, take us back in time with Christmas songs performed by popular local artists.
Food and drinks will be on sale on Monday and Tuesday evenings. Admission is free. Don’t forget to bring a chair.
