Driver Dies After Rear-Ending Dump Truck

A driver rear-ended a dump truck and died in the accident Wednesday night on the Nicholas Friday Drive in the area of Eco Tours Kayaks, the Virgin Islands Police Department reported Thursday.

Traffic Enforcement officers on St. Thomas were dispatched to the accident scene just after 11 p.m. According to the police, the deceased was a white male in his 60’s. Police said they are waiting for a definitive identification by the victim’s next of kin before releasing the name.

According to the preliminary report, the victim was driving an orange 2011 Jeep Wangler, traveling west, when he collided into the rear of a roll off dumpster truck.

Emergency medical technicians at the scene said the driver has no vital signs.

Traffic officer continue to investigate this fatal accident.
