Man Found Fatally Shot on Monster Hill

A man was found shot to death Sunday on the Monster Hill road in Estate Tutu after citizens called 911 at noon to report shots fired in the area, according to the V.I. Police Department.

It was the 13th homicide on St. Thomas since the beginning of the year, the 23rd in the territory.

According to the preliminary report, police arriving on the scene saw a white Toyota Corolla on the side of the road with the engine still running. The vehicle’s rear glass was shattered and there was evidence of gunshot damage to the body of the vehicle.

A few feet away an unresponsive male victim was observed in the road. Emergency medical technicians on the scene said the victim had been shot several times and they could not detect any vital signs.

The victim, whose name was not release Sunday by police, was taken to the Schneider Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead by medical staff.
