The public is invited to watch the final day of competition in the 36th annual Virgin Islands Quiz Bowl, which begins at 8:30 a.m. Monday at Bertha C. Boschulte Middle School on St. Thomas.
The Quiz Bowl is sponsored by the American Federation of Teachers-Local 1825 and WTJX-Channel 12.
The five teams competing for the territorial championship and a trip to the national finals in May represent the Good Hope-Country Day School, All Saints Cathedral School, Antilles School, Charlotte Amalie High School and Ivanna Eudora Kean High School.
The first day of competition took place Sunday at the school, and found the five teams closely matched. The teams of five students each are quizzed on topics ranging from academics, sports, contemporary events and general knowledge.
Questions are provided for the competition by Questions Unlimited of Columbus, Ohio, the company that supplies questions and answers for academic competition across the country.
In Sunday’s first round, Charlotte Amalie defeated All Saints by a score of 185-130, then lost to Good Hope-Country Day, 205-165. Antilles defeated Ivanna Eudora Kean, 195-175, and Kean later bested Antilles 185-75.
Monday’s competition begins with Antilles matched against Good Hope-Country Day.
