Two Suspects Arrested in Bar Robbery

Two St. Croix men, Jadiah Lockhart and Wahilli James, were arrested Wednesday and charged in a robbery that took place Nov. 21 at the They Say Lounge in Estate Williams Delight.

According to the V.I. Police Department, both suspects were arrested in the early morning hours Wednesday. Lockhart was arrested at 6:14 a.m. at a residence in Castle Burke and James was arrested at 5:51 a.m. at a residence in Estate Williams Delight.

In the preliminary police report, officers said patrons in the bar saw a masked man standing at the front door, which could not be opened by him because it is opened by a buzzer. The suspect then went to the east door where two other masked men were trying to open that door. The owner and patrons tried to hold the door closed until they heard several shots being discharged.

The owner was shot in the right forearm. The three armed suspects entered the business, stole cash and cell phones.

Police obtained arrest warrants for Lockhart, 28, and James, 18, on Tuesday. They were charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree assault, third-degree assault, unauthorized possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime of violence, possession of ammunition, failure to report firearms obtained outside or brought into the Virgin Islands, and first degree-reckless endangerment.

Bail for each suspect was set at $250,000, which they were unable to post. They were remanded to the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility pending further court action.
