Teen Injured by Gunshot to Foot

A 17-year-old male was injured by a gunshot to the foot Monday, and police on St. Croix are seeking two suspects who were seen fighting with the victim moments before the shot was fired, according to the V.I. Police Department.

According to the preliminary police report, officers were dispatched about 7 p.m. to Estate Whim. When they arrived, they made contact with the victim inside his home. He was taken by ambulance to the Juan F. Luis Memorial Hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound on his right foot.

Witnesses told police the victim was sitting in the passenger seat of a truck when two unknown men approached and pulled him out of the vehicle. A fight ensued and at least three shots were fired. The minor was injured and the two suspects fled the area on foot.

This case is being followed by detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau. Anyone with information regarding the shooting can call detectives at 1-340-712-6077 or 1-340-712-6037, the 911 emergency call center or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
