Foundation Launches Christmas Lights Contest

Whoever has the best Christmas lights on St. Croix can win up to $400 in the St. Croix Foundation’s new island-wide Christmas Lights Contest, according to the foundation.

The decorative theme should incorporate the word “believe,” reflect V.I. culture, be creative and eye-catching and be visible from the street.

Those entering can win a cash prize from $150 to $400. The contest is an extension of the Foundation’s Believe Campaign and seeks to inspire and unify residents as our community faces many challenges, according to the foundation.

The foundation was created in the wake of Hurricane Hugo’s devastating strike on the island in 1989; it makes grants and provides direct services and leadership to improve the socioeconomic welfare of the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Call the foundation at 773-9898 to get an entry form, fill it out and submit it by Dec. 18. Judging will be Dec. 20-Dec. 23. Results will be announced Dec. 30.
