Navy Seaman Recruit Delroy A. Rhymer Jr./St. Croix
Dec. 5, 2013 (Fleet Hometown News) – Navy Seaman Recruit Delroy A. Rhymer Jr., son of Delroy A. Rhymer and Barbara A. Williams of Christiansted, Virgin Islands, and brother of Chenell Hick Ramos of San Diego, Calif., recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois.
During the eight-week program, Rhymer completed a variety of training that included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.
The capstone event of boot camp is "Battle Stations." This exercise gives recruits the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the fleet. "Battle Stations" is designed to galvanize the basic warrior attributes of sacrifice, dedication, teamwork and endurance in each recruit through the practical application of basic Navy skills and the core values of honor, courage and commitment. Its distinctly Navy flavor was designed to take into account what it means to be a sailor.
Rhymer is a 2013 graduate of St. Croix Educational Complex, Frederiksted, V.I.
Navy Petty Officer First Class Laura Vicars/St. Thomas
Dec. 5, 2013 (Fleet Hometown News Center) — Navy Petty Officer First Class Laura Vicars recently qualified as an Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist (EAWS) while serving aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN75).
To qualify for the designator, sailors must demonstrate their knowledge of the ship or platform at which they are stationed.
Vicars is a 2003 graduate of Ivanna Eudora Kean High School, St. Thomas, V.I.

Dec. 11, 2013 (Fleet Hometown News Center) –Navy Seaman Recruit Ray A. McIntosh, son of Ray A. and Frances J. McIntosh of St. Crox, Virgin Islands, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Dec. 16, 2013 (Fleet Hometown News Center) — Navy Seaman Zuberi O. Greenidge, son of Glenwood and Jackqulin Greenidge of Frederiksted, Virgin Islands, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, IL.
During the eight-week program, Greenidge completed a variety of training, which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.

Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Latoya D. Hendricks/St. Croix
Dec. 19, 2013 (Defense Media Activity) — Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Latoya D. Hendricks graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Hendricks is the daughter of Pauline Williams and granddaughter of Neldeen Techeira, both of Christiansted.
She is a 2003 graduate of St. Croix Central High School, Christiansted, V.I.
