Man Flees Vehicle After Shots Are Fired

A man driving near Cancryn Bridge on Veterans Drive was shot at Friday night, and while fleeing his car to escape the gunshots, received an injury to his leg in the process, the V.I. Police Department reported Tuesday.

Police said the third-degree assault occurred about 11:30 p.m.

The victim told officers he was stopped at the traffic light when another vehicle pulled up beside him and someone inside fired multiple shots at him. He fled his car through the passenger door.

The victim was treated at the Schneider Regional Medical Center for a laceration to his right leg that occurred as he was exiting his vehicle.

The case is being followed up by detectives of the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
