Man Shot in Estate Barren Spot

A man was shot in the torso early Friday as he sat in his vehicle in Estate Barren Spot, according to the V.I. Police Department.

The initial police report said the incident occurred about 7 a.m. Officers were dispatched to the residential area of Estate Barren Spot to investigate a call of shots fired. When they arrived they saw a man who was injured by at least one gunshot sitting in his vehicle.

The victim told police he was getting ready to go to work when an unknown man ran up to him and shot him. The victim said the suspect was wearing a white shirt, black pants and had a cloth covering his face.

After the shooting the suspect fled into nearby bushes.

The victim, who is 29-years-old, was taken to the Juan F. Luis Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives are following up on this case.
