Man Robbed at Night on Vessup Beach

A man was held up by three men, at least one of them armed, while he walked on Vessup Beach Sunday night, according to the V.I. Police Department.

Police were dispatched to the area at about 10:20 p.m. and spoke to the victim. The man said he was on the beach just before 10 p.m. when he noticed three men, one with a handgun, walking toward him. One suspect threatened him with the gun and took a wallet, cell phone, the keys to his car and other personal items from the victim’s pants pockets.

The victim said that the other two suspects searched his vehicle. He said his sunglasses were later missing from his car. The suspects fled the area on foot, according to the victim.

The suspects were described as three tall men wearing all-black clothing. They covered their faces with white bandannas with dark designs on them.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau are investigating this case. Police urged anyone with information about the crime to call detectives at 714-9834 or 715-5522, the 911 emergency call center, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
