Four Armed Robbers Hit Sunny Isle Store

Four armed men robbed the Mini World gift store Thursday morning at Sunny Isle Shopping Center, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to police, at about 9:45 a.m. four suspects entered the store. The security guard was hit in his head with a blunt object, then the robbers smashed a glass display case and removed jewelry.

No shots were fired during the incident and no one but the security guard was injured. The guard was taken to the Gov. Juan F. Luis Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Witnesses said all four suspects fled the scene in a maroon Ford SUV. All suspects were wearing masks covering their faces.

St. Croix Police Chief James Parris said detectives are investigating, and urged community members to report any information on the case calling detectives at 340-712-6077 or 340-712-6037, the 911 emergency call center, or the anonymous tip service Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8744.
