Air Force Airman Anthony E. ArmstrongAir Force Airman Anthony E. Armstrong/ St. Croix
Sept. 4, 2013 (Joint Hometown News Service) — Air Force Airman Anthony E. Armstrong graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Armstrong is the son of Lurline and Austin Armstrong of Frederiksted, St. Croix.
He is a 2012 graduate of Free Will Baptist Christian School, Christiansted, St. Croix.

Army Pvt. Akijah J. Petersen/St. Thomas
Sept. 10, 2013 (Joint Hometown News Service) — Army Pvt. Akijah J. Petersen has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, and physical fitness. She also received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.
Petersen is the daughter of Akyta Brathwaite and granddaughter of Lydia Brathwaite, both of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.
She is a 2012 graduate of Charles Drew High School, Riverdale, Ga.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Giustino C. Fyfield/St. CroixAir Force Airman 1st Class Giustino C. Fyfield
Sept. 11, 2013 (Joint Hometown News Service) — Air Force Airman 1st Class Giustino C. Fyfield graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

Fyfield is the son of Cassandra Simmonds of Frederiksted, St. Croix.
He is a 2007 graduate of St. Croix Educational Complex, Kingshill. He earned an associate degree in 2010 from South Plains College, Levelland, Texas.

Sept. 23, 2013 (Joint Hometown News Service) — Army Pfc. Jaleel H. Thomas has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, and physical fitness. He received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.
Thomas is a 2012 graduate of St. Thomas Seventh-day Adventist, Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas.

Gumbs is the son of Cheryl and Iran Gumbs of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. He is the brother of Kira Gumbs of Inverness Parkway, Columbus, Ga.
He is a 2009 graduate of Charlotte Amalie High School, St. Thomas.
