Rotary Club of St. Croix Awards 2013 Stanley Farrelly Scholarships

The Rotary Club of St. Croix offers scholarships to St. Croix High School seniors in honor of Stanley Farrelly, a charter member of the club. This year’s awardees are Kemisha Grouby, who attends the St. Croix Educational Complex, and Quinn Galbreath of Country Day School.
The club was chartered over 54 years ago by Rotarian Stanley and a group of men dedicated to improving the lives of Virgin Islanders, and upholding strict vocational and ethical standards. It is the first rotary club on St. Croix and the second in the Caribbean.
Rotarian Stanley was very active and respected on St. Croix and beyond. Probably best known as the U.S. Marshall, he served as island administrator, executive director of the V.I. Port Authority; commissioner of the Commerce Department, now the V.I. Tourism Department; was a member of Knights of Columbus, and an avid Yankees fan. He was active in the club as long as his health permitted. Rotarian Stanley died in February 2003.
It is the wish of the Rotary Club of St. Croix that the students that receive these awards will demonstrate the same love and commitment to their homes, communities and professions that Stanley Farrelly did every day of his life.
Scholarship Award
A. Two one-year scholarships were awarded.
B. The monetary amount of each scholarship was $1,200.
