Police on Wednesday arrested a man believed to be the driver in a hit and run accident that injured a 56-year-old construction worker on April 11, the V.I. Police Department reported.
According to police, 27-year-old Donald E. Bough Jr. of Estate St. John was arrested and charged with the crime following an intensive investigation by the Traffic Investigation Unit.
Traffic officers arrested Bough about 8:30 a.m. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, negligent driving and failure to report an accident.
The construction workers, whose name was not released in accordance with a department policy to not identify victims, was working on a road crew in the vicinity of Questa Verde on the Queen Mary Highway when the accident occurred. He was struck by a silver Jeep Liberty, which fled the scene without rendering any assistance.
Witness testimony and forensic evidence were key factors to solving this crime, police said.
