Police Say Man Was Stabbed by Neighbor

A man was stabbed several times early Monday, and detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau said a neighbor breaking into the victim’s apartment was the assailant.

The incident occurred just after 1 a.m. Monday at the Suarez Apartments on Queen Street in Frederiksted. According to the preliminary report, officers were dispatched to the scene to investigate a stabbing.

Police then interviewed the victim at Gov. Juan F. Luis Memorial Hospital.

The victim told police he was away from his apartment when another person told him the apartment was being broken into by his neighbor. The victim said he went to his apartment and began to argue with the neighbor, who stabbed him several times.

The victim told police he and the neighbor had quarreled earlier in the afternoon.

The case is being followed up by the Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives.
