The Virgin Islands Track and Field Federation (VITFF) gives information about the strong efforts by Virgin Islands National Track and Field Team members.
Eddie Lovett, a junior at the University of Florida, helped his team to a tie in the NCAA Championships with Texas A & M with his second place finish in the 110m hurdles. He also claimed All-America honors again for his performance. The VITFF informed Lovett that he has been cleared by the IAAF to compete for the Virgin Islands National Track and Field Team (Lovett requested a transfer in allegiance from U.S.A. to the Virgin Islands). Lovett took first place in the NCAA East Regionals in Greensboro, North Carolina, in the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.39, and with that time, he met the “A” Standard for the IAAF World Championships to be held in Moscow in August.
David Walters completed his college career with a second place finish in the NAIA National Track and Field Champions 100m in Marion, Illinois. With his effort, he earned the status All-American and joins the ranks of other V.I. National Team members who have earned that status in both junior college and university levels. He joins teammates Leon Hunt, Collister Fahie, Calvin Dasent and Eddie Lovett at the relay training camp at Cornell University as the V.I. National Team prepares for summer championships competition.
Ninfa Barnard, a senior at the University of Arkansas — Pine Bluff, advanced to the NCAA West Regionals for the first time in her college career after setting a V.I. National Record in the 800m with a time of 2:08. The week before, she finished fifth in the regionals. After graduating with honors, she is scheduled to compete in the World University Games in Russia. She is the first Virgin Islands National Track and Field Team member to reach as far as the Regionals in the 800m
V.I. Qualifiers for the IAAF World Youth Championships, Eukrane July 2013

Nia Jack has met the time qualification standard but is too young to be eligible for the competition.
Leeward Islands Junior Invitational Tortola, British Virgin Islands Report
A contingent of 15 V.I. youth track and field athletes competed in the Leeward Islands Junior Invitational track and field meet in Tortola, British Virgin Islands. They competed against athletes from Anguilla, St. Kitts/Nevis, Dominica, Guadeloupe, Monterrat, Martinique and the British Virgin Islands, and they won 12 medals. Medal winners included: Nia Jack Bronze in the 100m; Kayla King Silver, 100m; Emari Mills Bronze, 100m; Rodney Griffin Bronze, 400m; Malique Smith Bronze, 800m; Male 4 x 100m Silver; Kemoi Charles Silver, long jump; Avery Joseph Bronze, shot put; Avery Joseph Bronze, discus; Avery Joseph Bronze, javelin and Kelly Sheleene-Chapman Bronze, discus.
Caribbean Scholastic Invitational, Puerto Rico
A young group of youth/junior V.I. National Track and Field Team members with the St. Croix Track Club traveled to Puerto Rico this past weekend to compete in the Caribbean Scholastic Invitational meet. Although elements of the meet presented challenges (rain, unforeseen schedule changes), the athletes performed well. Alile Browne took third place in the 200m with a time of 26.64; Malique Smith took fourth place in the 800m with time of 1:59.42.
