Rotary Club Honors Educator of the Year, Essay Contest Winners

On May 8, the members of the Rotary Club of St. Thomas II (Rotary II) made significant presentations to the students, faculty and administration of their adopted Addelita Cancryn Junior High School at the Club’s weekly luncheon at Marriott’s Frenchman’s Reef Hotel.
Awards were presented to the students who were the top winners in the Rotary Club of St. Thomas II Four Way Test Essay Contest.
• First Place — Sumaih Nadaca Richardson
• Gwendeline Pimentel and Web R. Jarboin tied for second place
Two top two educators, chosen by the entire student body, were honored as Rotary II’s Addelita Cancryn Educators of the Year.
• Winner: Kuumba Leba Ola Niyi — Art Teacher
• Runner up: Gloria L. Salad Linquist — Consumer Affairs Teacher
An additional monetary award was presented to the school administration to be used to purchase classroom supplies.
The educator-honorees and many of the students who participated in the essay contest were guests at the weekly Rotary II luncheon.
For many years, Rotary II has worked with the administration, staff and students of their adopted school to improve the quality of education on the campus. Rotary II is proud to be able to support the improvement of the territory’s education system and the future of its young people.
