Arts Alive and the AT&T Foundation Bestow Youth Scholarships

Arts Alive and the AT&T Foundation have announced the recipients of the 2013 Youth Scholarship Awards, which will support six students who will be attending Summer Music Programs in Miami, Florida; Oberlin, Ohio; and Litchfield, Connecticut. The recipients are:
• Orel Lee, a trombone player from Eudora Kean High School
• Isis Collier, a violin player from Peter Gruber International Academy
• Chloe Wade, a violin player from Sts. Peter and Paul School
• Omori Wade, a piano player from Charlotte Amalie High School
• Brianna Vazquez Smith, a viola player, from Antilles School
• Bethany Vazquez Smith, a violin player, from All Saints Cathedral School
A total of $10,000 was awarded from the fund, which was established with a grant from the AT&T Foundation, overseen by the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands, All of the students are part of the Student Performance Initiative mentoring program, which supports their musical talent and offers special opportunities for live performances.
