Fireworks by Grucci Return for Carnival

This year’s Carnival fireworks spectacular will once again be produced by the world-renowned Fireworks by Grucci of New York.

Saturday’s event will be the seventh consecutive Carnival engagement by Grucci, but the fireworks veterans were actually the first to produce the finale for V.I. Carnival more than 24 years ago.

“Given the budget constraints and shortfall of private sponsorship investment, we are indeed grateful and honored to carry on the traditional fireworks program for V.I. Carnival,” said Steve Bornn, local fireworks finale producer and production manager, in a statement released from his office.

The best spots from which to view the fireworks are downtown at Carnival Village and its adjacent waterfront area, the release said. The show begins at 9 p.m.

The fireworks will be staged from a barge in the cove across from Carnival Village, the release said, and boats normally anchored in that area will be required to relocate from the restricted zone.

The 17-minute fireworks display is being orchestrated by St. Thomas-based Left Lane Productions and Events, and is supported by assistance from Tropical Shipping, Boynes Trucking Systems, Crowley Marine, Brooks Transport and Challenger Trucking.

In 2009 Grucci set the world record for the largest fireworks display in Dubai, and the 170-year old company has produced shows for presidential inaugurations and the Olympics.

Left Lane produces region pyrotechnic displays including those for visiting corporate events, weddings and other occasions.
