Police Seek Arson Suspect Jevon Hedrington

Police on St. Croix are searching for 29-year-old Jevon Hedrington, who is charged with first-degree arson/domestic violence in two residential fires.

Police issued a wanted poster for Hedrington, who they said tried to burn down two residences – the apartment where the mother of his child lives and another family member’s home.

Just before noon Monday police were dispatched to the Candido Guadalupe housing community to investigate what was called a suspicious fire. Officers said they were told that Hedrington was at the apartment of his child’s mother and became upset. Witnesses said Hedrington threw an accelerant on the apartment door and set it on fire, according to the police report. The victim was able to extinguish the fire.

Hedrington allegedly fled the area in his vehicle, which he abandoned nearby. Police said the day before Hedrington had set fire to a home in Constitution Hill where a family member of his child’s’ mother lives.

No one was hurt in either of the fires.

According to the report, Hedrington is 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs about 140 pounds. He has a light brown complexion, brown eyes and black hair. His hair is in locks to his shoulder and he has a beard and mustache. He frequents Estate Grove Place in the vicinity of the Quarry, police said.

Police said Hedrington should be approached with caution. Police are asking Hedrington to turn himself in and are appealing to his friends and family to do the right thing and urge him to turn himself in.

Anyone found to be harboring Hedrington or assisting him to evade police can be charged and prosecuted, the police noted.
