Winifred H. Smith Dies

Winifred H. Smith, better known as "Wini," died on April 5

She is survived by her mother, Ruth Ann Elizabeth Baptiste; aunts: Emmeline Tomeau and Ina Parrott; sisters: Esmie Bonitto, Edith E. Rogers de la Santos,
Edris V.B. Daly and Ena Miller; sisters-in-law: Elma Baptiste, Alma Baptiste, and Beverly Baptiste; brothers: Wilfred E. Baptiste Sr., Wilston Baptiste and Wilbert Baptiste; brothers-in-law: Tomas De Los Santos, Samuel Daly, and Glenn Miller; daughters: Jacqueline Hodge-Leonard, Joycelyn Hodge-Gregory and Linda Marie Hodge; sons: Lawrence E. Hodge Jr., Dwayne M. Smith and Darrell L. Carty; grandchildren: DeShawn R. Leonard, Allyson R. Gregory, Aysha R. Gregory, Dior Smith, Allesso Smith, DeVante Carty, Demarcus Carty, DeAnna Carty, LaCoya H. Edinbourough, Jamar Jarvis, Jevon Hodge and Jelanie Hodge; daughters: Jacqueline Hodge-Leonard, Joycelyn Hodge-Gregory and Linda Marie Hodge; and sons: Lawrence E. Hodge Jr., Dwayne M. Smith and Darrell L. Carty.

She is also survived by great-grandchildren: Cadesha Brathwaite, Cairo Leonard and J’niyah Marie Hodge; daughter-in-law, Mavis Smith; sons-in-law: Elliot Leonard and Dale A. Gregory; nieces: Diana Salvador, Angela Bonitto, Angela Baptiste, Coleen Bird, Kirsi Rogers, Lynnette Lindesay, Corinne Petty and Kimberly Baptiste; nephews: Wilfred Baptiste Jr., Avery Baptiste, Dean Baptiste, Kenneth Rogers Jr., Kevin Rogers, Steve Miller and Bryant Baptiste; special friends: Beryl Blyden, Felecia Blyden, and Eunice Petersen, Joyce Caron, Alfonsine Webster, Ms. Meana, Velisa Hansen, Alma Sprauve, John Turbe and Leroy Frett; and many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention, including the Baptiste, Callwood, Farrow, Gumbs , Parrott, Stout, Thomas and Tomeau families.
A viewing will be held from 8-10 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 17, at Christ Methodist Church. Interment will be at Western Cemetery No.1.
All arrangements are by Turnbull’s Funeral Home.
