Police Investigate Two Shootings in Savan

A man was injured by gunshots and another’s car was shot in two separate shooting incidents early Tuesday in Savan, the V.I. Police Department reported.

Police were dispatched to the Schneider Regional Medical Center at about 12:20 a.m. Tuesday and spoke to a 24-year-old shooting victim who told them he was walking in Savan when he heard gunshots and began to run. He realized he had been shot in his right leg and asked someone for a ride to the hospital.

The victim told police he did not know who shot him or why anyone would want to shoot him. Police canvassed the area for suspects with no success.

A short time later police were dispatched to Bjerge Gade in Savan just a few minutes before 1 a.m. to investigate reports of rapid gunfire. According to the initial report police made contact with the driver of a vehicle who told them someone shot at his vehicle and showed police gunshot damage to his left fender and door panel.

Police said the driver would not give them any personal information and said he did not want to file a report.

Both cases are being followed by detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
