2011 Property Tax Bills Returned for Incorrect Addresses

A significant number of the newly released 2011 property tax bills have been returned to the Tax Assessor’s Office for incorrect addresses. Tax Assessor Ira Mills is reminding property owners, particularly those who have their mail delivered to a physical address, to make sure the address on file is correct.
Virgin Islands property owners who are using a physical address for mail delivery are asked to confirm that the address on file with the Tax Assessor’s Office is consistent with what was assigned to them by the U.S. Postal Service. They can pay their 2011 bill and take advantage of early payment discounts even if they have not received their bill in the mail, according to a press release issued Friday by the Office of the Lieutenant Governor.
To confirm or update mailing information, contact the Tax Assessor’s Office at 776-8505 on St. Thomas, at 776-6737 on St. John, or at 773-6459 for Christiansted or 772-3115 or the Frederiksted office on St. Croix.
