A woman was robbed Sunday by an armed gunman who took the purse and ran when the victim started screaming, the V.I. Police Department reported.
According to police, the incident occurred in the Sunny Isles housing community about 8 p.m. as she and a female minor were standing outside of her vehicle. The victim said a suspect walked up to her pointing a black handgun.
The woman said she threw her purse at the suspect and started to scream. The suspect picked up the purse and fled the area on foot.
The victim said the suspect was a slim male, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, wearing a black shirt over his face. The victim’s purse was a black Gucci with ice, gold and green straps and a matching wallet. The purse contained personal papers and about $6 in cash.
