Tickets Available for Friends of Park Gala

Lynda Lohr

Tickets are going fast but some are still available for Saturday’s Friends of V.I. National Park Gala, which will be held at Presidio del Mar, the Peter Bay home of Steven and Pamela Deckoff.

“It’s a way to have a great time and raise money for the park,” Friends development director Karen Vahling said.

Tickets are $250 each.

Parking will be available at the Trunk Bay Beach, with a shuttle leaving from the parking lot starting at 6 p.m. A shuttle will meet the ferry arriving from Red Hook at Cruz Bay at 6:20 and 7:20 p.m. for transportation to Presidio del Mar. The shuttle will return in time to meet the 10 and 11 p.m. departing ferries from Cruz Bay to Red Hook.

Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will begin at 6 p.m. With the full moon as the backdrop, an evening of fine wine, champagne, cocktails, dining and dancing under the stars will follow. Aged rums, truffles and fine cigars will be part of a "Taste of History" bar.

A raffle featuring items from local vendors and several special silent auction items will cap off the event. Raffle tickets are $25 each or five for $100.

Additionally, a Tahitian pearl and diamond pendant, valued at $6,800, from R&I Patton Goldsmithing will be raffled off. The pendant is available for viewing at R&I Patton’s Mongoose Junction shopping center. Only 100 tickets at $50 each will be sold for the raffle.

The winner does not have to be present Saturday.

The gala raises money for Friends’ projects in support of the national park. Vahling said last year, the event raised about $40,000.

Tickets to the gala as well as raffle tickets are on sale at the Friends of the Park store, at Connections or by calling the Friends at 1-340-779-4940.
