Lt. Governor Appoints Ira Mills Tax Assessor

Ira Mills was appointed tax assessor of the Virgin Islands by Lt. Gov. Gregory R. Francis.

In a press release Wednesday from the Lt. Governor’s Office, Francis said Mills’ appointment reflects his commitment to improve the overall operations in collecting property tax revenue. “Mills’ extensive administrative and financial management experience is welcomed as we work towards a seamless integration of our assessment, billing and collection processes,” Francis said.

Mills joined the Lt. Governor’s Office in January 2011 and served as the director of business and financial management prior to his appointment as tax assessor.

Previously Mills was chief financial officer at the V.I. Housing Authority and director of the V.I. Office of Management & Budget.

Mills received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from University of the Virgin Islands and an MBA in finance from the University of Cincinnati.
