Christensen Expresses Condolences to Family of Evelyn M. Williams

Delegate to Congress Donna M. Christensen joined the Virgin Islands community in expressing condolences to the family of Evelyn M. Williams, a revered teacher and administrator, whose public education career spanned more than 40 years. She was 98.
“The Virgin Islands community has lost another one of its treasured matriarchs and icons with the passing of renowned educator Mrs. Evelyn M. Williams,” said Congresswoman Christensen. “A dear friend of my late grandmother, Elena L. Christian, Mrs. Williams belonged to a generation of educators who exemplified a passion for the teaching profession and pure devotion to their pupils.”
Christensen added that the territory is grateful for her service and “we are assured that her legacy will endure.” Above all else, Christensen said, Mrs. Williams was loved by her family, friends and colleagues, and she once again expressed condolences to the Williams family, especially to her children, Janet Lake and Douglas Williams.
“Mrs. Williams will always be remembered for her warmth, humility and grace,” said Christensen. “May she rest in peace.”
