Man Struck by Vehicle Dies

A St. Thomas man was struck by a car and killed Wednesday as he crossed Emile Francis Drive, according to the V.I. Police Department.

Officers from the Traffic Enforcement unit are investigating the death of 67-year-old Meneus Plaisimon.

The accident occurred at about 6:45 p.m. Wednesday near the Texaco station.

Police said Plaisimon was crossing from the north side of the street to the south side. A vehicle operated by a man who was driving on the same roadway heading west collided with the victim. Emergency medical technicians said the victim showed no signs of life at the scene.

Police identified the victim through identification found in his wallet, and said no next of kin has identified him. The victim is of Haitian descent, police said.

The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed, according to police.
