National Park Service Director Jon Jarvis is the keynote speaker at the Friends of V.I. National Park annual meeting to be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Cinnamon Bay Campground’s T’ree Lizards Restaurant.
Friends program manager Audrey Penn said Jarvis will talk about the state of the park system nationally and those in the territory.
She said this is Jarvis’ second visit to the Virgin Islands.
Acting park Superintendent Mike Anderson will give the State of the Park address and Friends President Joe Kessler will report on the Friends’ accomplishments in 2012 and plans for 2013.
Those at the meeting will be able to sign up for the 2013 seminars, shop at the mini- Friends store, purchase their own set of Friends license plates, and update their annual membership.
Light refreshments will be served after the meeting.
Parking is always limited at Cinnamon Bay so a free shuttle service will be provided to and from the park maintenance area by Mongoose Junction. It departs the maintenance area at 1:45 p.m. and returns after the meeting.
“Save gas,” Penn said.
Penn said that people planning to park along the road at Cinnamon Bay should make sure all their tires are off the pavement so they don’t get a ticket.
