St. John resident Angela Coleman is out with a new e-book, and her “Black Girls Guide: How to Be Like Michelle Obama” is the first of the new Black Girls Guide book series.
“As the first African American first lady, Michelle Obama is a historical figure,” Coleman said in a press release. “But not only that—she’s smart, sexy, youthful, stylish and so many females of all ages look up to her as a role model. She is particularly influential among black girls, who often see themselves in her.”
“Black Girls Guide” is published by Sisterhood Agenda, a St. John-based agency that Coleman created more than 15 years ago.
“There are ‘how to’ guides for everything. In fact, ‘how to’ is the most searchable term online. Why not a ‘how to’ publication that is specifically dedicated to black girls and their self-development?” Coleman asked, saying “these tools are important for everyone, particularly for girls who are bombarded with pop culture that is not always empowering.”
In her book, Coleman asks the reader how much does she really know about America’s first lady and then proceeds to answer the question by discussing Obama’s agenda, sense of humor, marriage, daughters, style and her strength.
Coleman includes a “What You Can Do” section after each chapter to help readers be successful.
