Police Investigating Sunday Shooting

A man was shot and wounded early Sunday morning and admitted to the Juan F. Luis Memorial Hospital, according to V.I. Police Department reports.

The 33-year-old victim walked into the JFL emergency room suffering from several gunshot wounds. Police were dispatched to the hospital about 3:15 a.m. to investigate the incident.

Medical personnel told police that the victim walked into the emergency room and asked for help. When police arrived, the victim was undergoing surgery.

The preliminary report did not specify where the shooting took place or contain any other details of the crime.

The man’s name was not released, due to a VIPD policy not to name victims.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau on St. Croix are investigating. Anyone with any information can call detectives at 712-6037 or 712-6077, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-TIPS
