Brief: Mount Pleasant Sewer Spill

A collapsed sewer line is spilling raw sewage in the area of the Mount Paradise Gut north of the Queen Mary Highway between the entrance to the St. George’s Community and Consumer Gas Station, according to the V.I. Waste Management Authority, which is recommending people avoid standing water in the area.

WMA’s Wastewater and Engineering Divisions and contractor Mickey’s Construction have begun work to correct the problem, according to the WMA. The work will consist of excavating the area and repairing or replacing a portion of the existing 8-inch gravity line. WMA projects the work will be completed by Friday afternoon.
