Police Charge Man with August Assault

Maner Damus of St. Thomas was arrested Sunday and charged with assault in an incident that occurred last summer.

According to the V.I. Police Department, Damus, a 29-year-old native of Haiti, hit a man with a piece of steel during an argument. The assault occurred Aug. 26.

The victim in this case was treated at the Schneider Regional Medical Center for injuries to his head.

Damus was unable to post the $50,000 bail and was remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending further court action.
