Arts Alive Initiates New Scholarship Fund for Young Artists

Arts Alive has established a Youth Scholarship Fund, which will be administered by the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands, according to Polly Watts, board chair for Arts Alive. The fund will provide partial scholarships for students who wish to attend stateside or local summer programs in music and art in 2013. Board members have identified 15-20 available programs in music and art at a variety of locations.
Arts Alive is presently contacting local music and art teachers to assist in identifying possible candidates. In January, board members will be visiting public and private schools to give more information to interested students and provide applications.
Arts Alive will open their 2012/13 season with a Happy Holidays Classical Concert at 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 7, at Prior-Jollek Hall on the Antilles School campus. All proceeds from the concert will go to the Youth Scholarship Fund.
